Seahawks Sunday roundup: Griffin brothers write a book
By Lee Vowell
Seahawks players and brothers Shaquill and Shaquem Griffin are releasing a book. Here’s a bit about that and other Seattle news from last week.
The Seahawks news never stops. This past week Seattle continued organized team activities (OTAs) where players more or less go through the motions of football. There is no tackling and no contact. This leaves time for others things, like writing books. In fact, Shaquill and Shaquem Griffin teased a bit about the release of their upcoming book this past week.
The real story about the Griffin brothers
Shaquill and Shaquem, along with Mark Schlabach, are releasing a book about how they have turned out to be professional football players. The book is called Inseparable and according to Amazon’s description of the book:
"Much more than a sports memoir, in Inseparable Shaquem and Shaquill Griffin share the previously untold details of the powerful and inspiring story behind the modern NFL’s first one-handed player, and his twin brother’s unrelenting devotion, sacrifice, and love. It’s the story of Shaquem’s understand of God’s purpose for his life—to inspire others to stop being afraid and to stop making excuses—and his family’s unwavering support in spite of seemingly insurmountable obstacles."
The book will be release on July 9th and can be pre-ordered today. It is unlikely that the book will have the same edge as, say, Michael Bennett‘s Things That Make White People Feel Uncomfortable, but I could be wrong. I would assume the Griffin’s book is more of the family-friendly-type where as Bennett’s book is more of the Michael Bennett-type.

The Griffin’s do make a good story and both men seem like good people who work hard. Hopefully both will find success on the field at a high level in 2019. Shaquill needs to lock down his cornerback position, while Shaquem might need to be used a lot more in pass rushing situations.
Scott Fitterer interviews with the Jets
Fitterer has been with the Seahawks since the earth began to cool, it seems. He started with the Seahawks in 2001 and has served in lots of different positions. Currently, Fitterer is the co-director of player personnel. Of course, over most of the last decade Seattle has been very good. Therefore, other teams have interest in stealing Seahawks executives.
The Jets requested to interview Fitterer for their vacant General Manager position and Fitterer interviewed on Friday. New York seems to favor hiring Eagles’ vice president of player personnel, Joe Douglas. Hopefully, the Jets hire Douglas and let Fitterer be. For one, Fitterer is good at his job. And two, the Jets stink so Fitterer can do better than go to New York.
