Seahawks Wednesday roundup: Russell Wilson is a geek
By Lee Vowell
In Seattle Seahawks midweek news, Russell Wilson has hired who? And J.D. McKissic might be a receiver instead of a running back.
The Seahawks are between minicamp and training camp but there is always Seattle football news to write and read about. Not all of the news is happy for Wednesday, but there are some fun bits as well.
Russell Wilson likes funny videos
I will be honest. There are times when I wish I was Josh Cashman. Cashman was a simple football fan, just like you and me. But unlike me, he had a ton of talent in making videos. Known as @CableThanos on Twitter, Cashman impressed Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson so much that Wilson offered him a job with Wilson’s company, West2East Empire.
This is the same Cashman that challenged Wilson to Super Smash Bros. Video and Wilson accepted. One of the cool things about Seattle’s quarterback is he doesn’t act like he is better than the fans. He really is one of us and geeks out just like we do.
Trevone Boykin gets indicted
There was a time not too long ago that Boykin seemed like an ideal backup to Russell Wilson. Boykin could mimic Wilson’s style fairly well so the offense did not have to change much when he came in. That was the theory anyway. But Boykin seems to have personal demons that will keep him out of the NFL.
Boykin has been arrested multiple times for multiple things. Last Friday in Texas, on top of being jailed for allegedly breaking his girlfriend’s jaw on March 21, 2018, Boykin was charged with tampering with a witness involving the same crime. We can all be thankful Boykin didn’t stick in Seattle. He is just a bad guy.
Aaron Donald kills the Seahawks
Pro Football Focus says that each NFL team has a “team killer” and in the case of the Seahawks that player is Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald. In 308 career pass-rushing snaps against Wilson and Seattle, Donald has 61 pressures and 28 quarterback hits. Of course, 12s know full well what Donald can do.
But Donald doesn’t just do grand things against Seattle. PFF also has Donald has the “team killer” to the 49ers and Cardinals too. Clearly, the whole NFC West has felt Donald’s presence. Donald just seems to be even better against Seattle. Hopefully that stops in 2019.
