Number two: Russell Wilson

This is not a ranking of most important players for the Seahawks, but simply the five best players on the team based on how good players are at their respective positions. Russell Wilson is a great quarterback and among the best in the NFL. Without him, Seattle does not have the success they have had this decade. But I still have Wilson as the second best player on the Seattle roster which means the number one guy is extremely good.

But Wilson is so good that he may have actually been ill-used at times in 2018. For instance, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer should have called upon Wilson’s wizardry earlier in the Wild Card game against the Cowboys and instead chose to run the ball too often and too early. Late in the game, Wilson began to throw downfield and the Seattle offense worked better.

Still, Wilson may have had his best season in 2018 even though he threw and ran less than in previous seasons. He finished with 35 touchdown passes versus just 7 interceptions. His quarterback rating was 110.9 which was a career-high.

Wilson will have a big challenge to maintain those numbers in 2019 as he will be without Doug Baldwin and will have a young group of receivers which will have to build report with him. But Wilson is good enough to make the offense work and Seattle would be a lesser team without their quarterback.
