Number one: Bobby Wagner

I did this same kind of ranking last year and had Bobby Wagner ranked as the best player on the Seahawks team. My mind has not changed. Wagner is the best linebacker in the NFL and the most well-rounded. He can do whatever it is that Seattle asks him to do.

In 2018, Seattle asked Wagner to play a bit more in coverage than he did before and he responded with 11 passes defended and one interception. The interception Wagner ran back 99 yards for a touchdown.

Wagner has made five straight Pro Bowls and four of the last five seasons he has been named First-Team All-Pro. Over the course of Wagner’s career, Seattle has been up an average of 17.4 points-per-game. Wagner will be in the Hall of Fame. Of other Hall of Fame linebackers, just Jack Lambert and Ray Nitschke played on teams that gave up less points per game.

Wagner has had 133 tackles or more in every season of his career but one. Even though a middle linebacker and not a linebacker like Von Miller (who is really an edge rusher), Wagner has 60 quarterback hits. He is fast and strong and simply doesn’t have tackles broke on him often.

Again, this top five Seahawks list is about the best players on the Seattle roster, not necessarily the most important. Wagner is the second most important player in Seattle, but he is the team’s best player overall.
