Seahawks Linebackers

Though currently the Seahawks play mostly with two linebackers on the field and five defensive backs (this includes the slot corner), I am going with the more traditional three linebacker set on this defense here. So sue me. I am not a defensive coordinator nor would I be a good one.

Lofa Tatupu

Injuries cut Tatupu‘s career short. But in his first three seasons in Seattle he made the Pro Bowl. Each of those years he exceeded 100 tackles, plus he could cover running backs coming out of the backfield. If Tatupu could have stayed healthy, he might have played on a defense with Bobby Wagner. Think of how great that would have been. I will wait while you do.

Chad Brown

Why Brown over K.J. Wright? Because Brown had more of impact on games nearly by himself at linebacker. Wright has almost always had Wagner. But Brown spent 8 of his 15 seasons in Seattle and in that time had 48 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, 3 interceptions and 571 tackles. That is good stuff. He made the Pro Bowl twice in his Seahawks career, one more than Wright has so far.

Bobby Wagner

Brown was good in Seattle. Tatupu was very good at times with the Seahawks. For the duration of his career so far, Wagner has been one of the best, if not the best, linebacker in the NFL. If Wagner doesn’t make the Hall of Fame one day they should close Canton down.

In 2016, Wagner led the league with 168 combined tackles. 168. In 2017, Wagner led the NFL with 97 solo tackles. The last five years, Wagner has made the Pro Bowl. In four of those years, he has been on the AP’s First-Team All-Pro team.
