Seahawks pulled off a rare feat – rarer than you’d think

Since 1920 – yep, 1920 – only five teams have managed to pull this off for at least eight consecutive eight games. As you’ll see on the link from pro-football-reference.com, the Cowboys and Steelers both had 11 game streaks. The Cardinals and (yay!) Seahawks each had nine straight games with 100 yards rushing and 200 yards passing, while the Eagles got to eight games. By the way, the Cowboys and Steelers streaks were over two seasons. Certainly counts, just a note. An important note as you’ll soon see.

The Seahawks streak ran from October 18th through December 20th of 2015. In other words, it was all about Russell WilsonMarshawn Lynch, and Thomas Rawls. Fun fact: Seattle had more touchdown passes in their streak (23) than any other team in their run. Not-so-fun fact: they also had the fewest rushing touchdowns (eight) of any of the teams. The real unfun part was why the streak stopped on December 27th.

Both Lynch and Rawls were on the shelf by this time. On December 20th, a cobbled backfield of Christine Michael and Bryce Brown produced against the Browns, as the team ran for 182 yards. Wilson chipped in 46 yards on the ground himself. The following week, the Rams focused on stuffing the run. Wilson had 38 yards on the ground. The ten-thousand-year-old Fred Jackson led the running backs with 11 yards. Sadly, the running attack other than Wilson piled up a staggering 21 yards.
