Seahawks talent is very top heavy according to NFL Network
By Lee Vowell
NFL Network has announced it’s top 100 players in the NFL. The Seahawks have two really good players and then not much thereafter, says the network.
The NFL Network announced who they thought were the top 100 players in the league over the past week and more. Among the list are three Seahawks. (Well, they still had Frank Clark listed with Seattle but that isn’t the case.) So how good can Seattle be with such top heavy talent?
Seattle had three players named to the top 100 players. Tyler Lockett was number 98. Russell Wilson was number 25. Bobby Wagner was number 15. Wagner at 15 is a joke. He is much better than that and we all know it.
The truth is, what the NFL Network has put together is a total crap shoot. Ziggy Ansah, if healthy, could easily be a top 100 player. And should be. Chris Carson could also be among the top 100 players. And Duane Brown? One of the better players in the NFL? Um, yes.
But this is all semantics. The NFL Network can have whatever opinion they have and they are no better or worse than yours or mine. Lists like the top 100 are fun to debate and that is the point of them. But is Seattle truly top heavy? No. Here’s why.
Football is a different sport than basketball. In basketball, one great player on a team can make a huge difference in wins and losses. The NFL doesn’t work that way. Sure, Wilson makes the team better, but a team does not make the playoffs, just as Seattle did last year, without other real talent.
And the Seahawks have real talent this season beyond Wilson, Wagner and Lockett. The linebacker group is loaded. So is the running back group. Plus, the offensive line overall is better. Seattle is a team and a good one. Individual talent in the NFL is overrated because it is a team that makes or breaks success, not single talent.
