The Seahawks could have a lot of things go well this coming season. But they could also have a bunch go wrong. Here are a few of the worst possibilities.

Seattle has a good football team. 12s know that. But the Seahawks are not so good that they can simply rest on their talent and make the playoffs. There are several things that could go wrong to make the 2019 season a complete failure.

Seattle makes the playoffs? Not if a few horrific events happen. Here are dark predictions (that I hope do not happen) of when bad things happen to a good team.

Russell Wilson gets hurt in week three

Seattle’s quarterback hasn’t missed a game for the Seahawks ever. He has missed two proactices in his career, both times to attend a funeral. Russell Wilson simply does not get hurt, until this season. Against the Saints in the second quarter and with Seattle leading 13-3, Wilson runs a bootleg and without getting touched falls to the CenturyLink grass with a torn ACL.

In Wilson’s absence, Geno Smith comes in and leads the Seahawks to 10 more points and Seattle wins 23-21. Seattle signs Colin Kaepernick with Wilson out. Kaepernick starts two games later and leads Seattle to a winning record but Seattle misses the playoffs.

Wilson comes back in 2020 and is at his best and the Seahawks make it all the way to the NFC Championship game.

D.K. Metcalf can’t meet expectations

Metcalf already has too high expectations probably. The physical freak still has to learn to be an NFL receiver and rookie receivers normally don’t do much. Metcalf, however, will also have a problem with drops in key situations forcing whatever quarterback that is throwing him the ball to lose confidence in him. By the end of the year, Metcalf sees only spot time and finishes the season with 20 catches.

In 2020, Metcalf will be much better with 65 catches and 1,000 yards receiving.

The linebackers become a weakness by the end of the year

How could this happen? The best defensive unit on the Seahawks becoming a liability? It’s three easy steps.

One is that surprisingly Mychal Kendricks does end up having to serve jail time for insider trading. Kendricks has a hearing set in September and while Pete Carroll is hopeful Kendricks won’t miss time, Kendricks does. Kendricks is then lost for the season.

Two is that K.J. Wright‘s bothersome knee from 2018 gets worse shortly into the season and requires surgery. Wright, like Kendricks, ends up missing most of the season.

Three is that Bobby Wagner, the best linebacker in the NFL, tries to overcompensate for the losses of Wright and Kendricks and gets hurt too. After having more than 15 tackles in each game between games four through eight, Wagner hurts his ankle and misses most of the rest of the year.

Next. Five best Seahawks on the 2019 roster are.... dark

Losing their top three linebackers leaves Seattle with mostly rookies and unproven players as starters. The defense suffers greatly and falls to the bottom third of the league. This causes the Seahawks to end up with a losing record for the first time in Russell Wilson’s career. Now that is truly a scary story.
