C.J. Prosise versus J.D. McKissic

Either Prosise or McKissic is not going to make the team. They both do similar things and both also have a recent history of being banged up. A lot of people might favor McKissic over Prosise because of McKissic’s ability to return kicks but there is the simple fact that he hasn’t been available for games lately any more than Prosise has. Both players played five games for Seattle in 2018, seasons cut short because of injury.

It’s a funny thing, really. I get the feeling that nearly half of 12s want McKissic to make the team because he seems to play more than Prosise and is an exciting player. In reality, Prosise is bigger and almost as fast and probably offers as much upside as McKissic. But Prosise is even worse at staying healthy.

Maybe Seattle is better off having neither player on the active roster to start the season. But that isn’t going to happen. Coach Pete Carroll has never given up on Prosise and appears to really want him to stay healthy and active. Prosise is great off the field and in the locker room. If he were to ever stay healthy, he could definitely help the team.

Thursday could easily decide either players fate with the Seahawks. Likely, though, if Prosise were to be released, he would get picked up by another team. McKissic might not. That may go a long way into Seattle’s thinking about who stays and who does not.
