The Seahawks had so many roster questions coming into the last preseason game. Not everything is set, but these players shouted they were ready.

The Seahawks wrapped up the preseason with a 3-1 record. A winning record in the games that don’t count is historically more important than you would think, at least in Seattle’s case. The wins don’t count but the performances certainly do. And the Hawks saw some big performances against the Raiders. Pete Carroll came into tonight wondering if some of his players were truly ready to play in the NFL. These are the men who emphatically answered, yes.

Geno Smith. Assuming his knee injury is minor – and it appears to be just that – Smith locked up the backup quarterback gig with another solid performance. He wasn’t spectacular by any means, as he completed just four of seven passes. But he racked up 107 yards and two scores with those four completions. That’s two solid performances from Smith in the last two games. Meanwhile, Paxton Lynch had another terrible game. He connected just once in seven attempts for four yards. Smith has looked more than competent, and that’s the most you can expect from a backup.

C.J. Prosise. I’ve written Prosise off more often than home office expenses on my 1040. I wrote the linked article prior to last season. As you know, he accounted for just19 total yards on four touches last year. It isn’t that I don’t like the guy; he just hasn’t been able to stay healthy. Tonight he ran the ball five times for 42 yards, his second straight solid preseason performance. Far more importantly, he left the field healthy for the second straight game. When he’s right, he’s right all the way. He definitely earned his spot on the 53-man roster tonight.

Ben Burr-Kirven. UDub represents tonight! BBK was finally healthy tonight, and it showed. I don’t know for sure, so let me ask you. Are five solo tackles, seven assists and a sack any good? We were high on Burr-Kirven when the Seahawks drafted him in the fifth round. After tonight, it looks like a solid bet he’ll be able to show his heady play 16 more times this year. Oh, thought you might like to watch this play again:

Next. C.J. Prosise stirring things up for the Seahawks. dark

Those three players were far from the only players who showed up in the Seahawks win over the Raiders. But they were three that posed some of the biggest questions coming into the game. Smith was poised, made excellent throws and good decisions. Prosise ran hard, made quick cuts and above all, came out healthy. Burr-Kirven tackled everyone in sight, showed great speed and a football IQ that’s off the charts. All three locked in their roles with the Seahawks, just in time.
