Seahawks injuries for Bengals game and chances these players will play
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks have added a key player in Jadeveon Clowney. But they have major injury concerns at key positions for week one.
The Seahawks improved themselves last week by adding Jadeveon Clowney. But health has never been his strong suit. (Do the cool kids still say “strong suit”?) And Seattle heads into week one against the Cincinnati Bengals with a few injury issues. Here are the players who are banged up with their chances to play on Sunday.
D.K. Metcalf
Metcalf has been dealing with some kind of knee issue since the Seahawks’ early preseason. He practiced on Monday, though, so yay! According to coach Pete Carroll, Metcalf looked “great out there” on Monday. That is a good sign, even from Carroll the Optimist.
Chance Metcalf plays against Bengals: 80 percent
Mike Iupati
The free agent guard acquisition is a big guy, like D.J. Fluker. But he gets hurt a lot and will start the season injured. Carroll said about Iupati, “He’s going for it, we’ll see what happens.” In other words…

L.J. Collier
Now that Seattle has acquired Clowney and already singed Ziggy Ansah, there is a lot less pressure on Collier to perform well early. The rookie is “on his way back,” says Carroll. Sounds like not for week one, though.
Chance Collier plays against the Bengals: 10 percent
David Moore
The Seahawks really will be young at receiver to start the season. Not that Moore would help that much as he is pretty inexperienced himself. Carroll says, “Nothing is going to change for a while…” as far as Moore’s arm injury is concerned.
Chance Moore plays against the Bengals: Not a chance
Marquise Blair
Blair hasn’t been able to stay consistently healthy in preseason. That is not a good sign. He has been dealing with a back bruise. Carroll said about Blair’s availability that it will “take us all week to figure that out.”
Chance Blair plays against the Bengals: 50 percent
Shaquem Griffin and Joey Hunt are also iffy against Cincinnati. They are hopefully less important than the other players listed. But if they were needed to play meaningful snaps, there is a good chance they would not be available to play.
