The Seahawks play their first real game of 2019 on Sunday versus the Bengals. Seattle should win but who will be the MVP of the game?

The Seahawks should win in week one at home versus the Cincinnati Bengals. While the talent gap between the two teams isn’t huge, it is in key areas like quarterback and the defensive line. But many times a team wins it is because of unsung hero for that days game, like Malcolm Smith in the Seahawks Super Bowl win, or simply one star player who was a menace on the field.

On Sunday, there are a lot of Seahawks that one can safely assume will the key to victory. Russell Wilson makes the team go, for instance. Bobby Wagner drives the defense. Choosing one of these players to be the MVP might be correct, but it would also be lazy and simply take the easiest choice.

Besides, I think one of the biggest reasons that Seattle defeats Cincinnati is that Tre Flowers has his best game as a pro. He is my pick for the MVP. Flowers will get his first interception of his career. He will also force a fumble and pick up six tackles.

The cornerback still plays a bit like the safety he was in college as far as tackling. This reminds me of the way Richard Sherman hit people when he was in Seattle. Flowers will make a big stop on Cincinnati running back Joe Mixon in the second quarter of a still-close game on a third down and short. This will help build even more confidence for Seattle’s defense and they will get more physical as the game wears on.

Flowers might not yet become an All-Pro cornerback, but week one will be the start of a very good year for him. The Seahawks win on Sunday and Flowers will be a big reason why.
