The Seahawks are better than the Bengals. On paper, that is. Here are three reasons Seattle should win in week one against Cincinnati.

Hi, 12s. Christmas is almost here. And by that I mean the Seahawks are about to kick off week one of the 2019 season on Sunday. They do so at home against the Bengals of Cincinnati. Seattle should win as they are good and the Bengals are not good. But on any given Sunday, any NFL team can beat another NFL team.

Seattle actually hasn’t lost in their last 10 home openers. Coach Pete Carroll has never lost a game at home to open the season. Of course, the odds usually catch up with a person or team sooner or later, but unless something bad happens on Sunday, like say Russell Wilson gets injured early in the game (please no!), then Seattle should win their 11th straight home opener.

Still, there are reasons not to count out the Bengals. Andy Dalton is a veteran quarterback who can’t win a playoff game but is pretty good in the regular season. A good quarterback can steal a team a game, especially against a Seahawks secondary that might not be what it once was. Of course, Dalton will be playing without A.J. Green so that is good for Seattle.

A loss on Sunday for the Seahawks would not be a great way to start 2019 if they are trying to recapture the throne of the NFC West. But it wouldn’t end their season either. Last year Seattle began 0-2 and made the playoffs. Still, Seattle should win against Cincinnati and here are three reasons why.
