The Seahawks faced the Steelers as underdogs today. There was no shortage of heroes for Seattle, but my MVP of the game is quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Seahawks came into their week two contest against the Steelers as underdogs. There were good reasons for that expectation. The secondary was shredded for over 400 yards, the most since 2015. The offensive line couldn’t block, as Russell Wilson was under pressure for more than 40 percent of his pass plays. Today they faced a quarterback that threw for over 5,000 yards last year and a defense that sacked the opposing quarterback 52 times last year. Of course, Seattle had one thing the Steelers didn’t. That would be Russell Carrington Wilson, your MVP of week two.

Wilson didn’t put up a lot of yards when the Bengals came to play in the season opener. Considering he was under so much pressure, he had a remarkable performance. He threw for two scores, no picks, and completed 70 percent of his passes. It was another of Wilson’s now typical fourth-quarter heroics. He finished with a passer rating of 134.6 for the game. More importantly, he gave the Seahawks the win.

The Seahawks had plenty of heroes today, as I mentioned at the top of the article. Will Dissly had two touchdown catches, showing that the early promise of the 2018 season opener was no fluke. Tyler Lockett caught nine balls for 72 yards, proving he’s not the forgotten man of the offense. The Hawks had plenty of MVP candidates today, but none shone brighter than the stellar Wilson.

Now in his eighth year, he had another excellent game today. He was pressured again, and even sacked on back-to-back plays at one point. But as he does so often, he showed why the handle DangeRuss fits so well. All he did was go 29 of 35 for 300 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also added 25 yards on three carries. The stats show six attempts and 22 yards, but the last three were the classic victory formation dropbacks. He truly was Mr. Unlimited.

Next. Russell Wilson, Destroyer of (defensive) Worlds. dark

Russell Wilson was indomitable today. In the first two games of 2019, he’s completed 44 of 55 passes for 495 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Not only is he the MVP for the second week of the season, but he’s building a strong statement as the MVP of the league. Surely, no one thinks Seattle gets either of these narrow victories without him.
