The Seahawks need to play better in week two to win. Against the Steelers, Chris Carson will be the key to leading Seattle to victory.

Chris Carson is a beast to tackle. The Seahawks running back seemingly takes personal offense when someone tries to tackle him. Sometimes he evens seeks out contact, though he is getting better at avoiding people entirely. I am not sure he wants to do this, but he has probably been coached to do so. Sadly for him, most likely.

Carson in week one had 80 total yards. He probably expected more and he should. His line was terrible and he hardly ever got holes in which to run through. Carson averaged 3/1 yards a carry and scored a touchdown. That is not up to Carson’s standards. But the Bengals were playing a five man front to stop the run and the Seahawks never really adjusted.

Carson did have six catches and scored a touchdown there too. He had a drop and a fumble, however, so overall Carson was decent but not great. He was great in 2018 and will be again in 2019. 2019 just didn’t start off that well for him, mostly which was not his fault.

The Steelers don’t have as good of a defensive line as the Bengals do, though. Sure, in week one the Patriots averaged just 3.4 yards against Pittsburgh but they also allowed Tom Brady to throw for 366 yards. Seattle is built to run the ball and they should be able to do that against the Steelers.

Patriots running backs also caught 10 passes in week one. The Seahawks are going to get Carson more involved in the passing game in 2019. So week two might see Carson get a lot of touches. Seattle should also get Mike Iupati back making the line even bigger and better at run blocking.

Next. Should Seahawks trade for a safety?. dark

I think that Sunday’s game is a close one. But if Seattle is able to come out with a win in Pittsburgh, it will be because Carson runs for 93 yards and a touchdown and catches five passes for 54 more. Carson will be the difference maker against the Steelers. And probably against a lot of other teams this season too.
