Seahawks grades from defeat of Steelers: Thank you Russell Wilson!
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks beat the Steelers in week two to start 2-0. There was some good and some bad, of course, so here are the grades for Seattle.
The Seahawks defeated the Steelers on Sunday to start 2019 2-0. It hasn’t always been pretty but at least week two’s win felt better than week one. Maybe it was because except for two Chris Carson miscues, the game wasn’t close. Even the statistics will tell you that.
There was a lot of good to take from the game. The defense was much better than in week one, and the Seahawks were still without Ziggy Ansah who has yet to make his debut for Seattle since signing this offseason. Seattle will need Ansah and Jadeveon Clowney against the Saints to win. New Orleans lost against the Rams in week two but that should only make them hungrier, if Drew Brees can return.
At the end of the day, the reason Seattle defeated the Steelers is because they had the better quarterback. Russell Wilson was incredible versus Pittsburgh. If Seattle has nearly any other quarterback playing for them, they probably lose. But we have gotten used to that, haven’t we 12s? Wilson is better than the other teams’ quarterbacks most of the time.
Besides Wilson, however, there were other good things for Seattle: Tyler Lockett, D.K. Metcalf, Michael Dickson, Rashaad Penny and Will Dissly. That is just to name a few. But there was bad too.
The offensive line struggled early. And the pass rush was inconsistent throughout the whole game. This needs to stop as Seattle begins to face better teams than the Steelers or Bengals. But here are the grades for week two.
