The Seahawks play the Saints in week three. Through the first three weeks of the season, each opposing team Seattle will have played will have been without a key player, but…

I love the fact that the Seahawks are relatively healthy. There are players dealing with some hurts, like Ziggy Ansah (it seems) and Poona Ford and others. But overall, Seattle’s health is good. The same cannot be said for their opponents, however. And that is a good thing, so far.

I certainly don’t want this post to sound like I am happy that players on other teams are getting hurt. A win is better when there are no injury excuses and a team with its best players beats the other team with their best players. It is simply odd how through the first three weeks of the 2019 season, Seattle has faced teams with critical injuries.

Week one the Bengals were without their best receiver, A.J. Green. In week two, Pittsburgh lost Ben Roethlisberger by halftime and running back James Conner also went out. And this week the Saints will be without quarterback and future Hall of Famer Drew Brees. Brees broke his hand in week two against the Rams.

All this said, I hate to jinx the Seahawks by talking about other players being hurt. Seattle would be crushed if it lost Russell Wilson, for instance. Wilson may be one of the three best quarterbacks in the NFL and Seattle would simply have no replacement for him.

The only players who seem truly out for Seattle against New Orleans on Sunday are Tedric Thompson and Neiko Thorpe who are both dealing with hamstring injuries. D.J. Fluker might be unlikely as well with an ankle injury, although he was able to play through that in week two.

dark. Next. How is Germain Ifedi still starting?

Plus, the Seahawks might actually get healthier with Ansah expected to see his first action of the year. Ford might also be able to go after being out week two. So, let’s just hope Seattle’s luck holds up and no one gets injured before, during or after the Saints game.
