Seahawks grades versus Saints are not ones to be proud of

The Seahawks played the Saints in week three. And lost. But you know that already. Here are Seattle’s grades from the disaster on Sunday.

Ok, so maybe the Seahawks didn’t lose by a million points in their week three loss to the Saints. It certainly felt like that in many ways. It wasn’t that New Orleans simply lined up and beat Seattle, but that, in many ways, Seattle simply beat themselves.

The final score was 33-27 but at one point it was 33-14. New Orleans led by double-digits from the second quarter until the very last play of the game. The statistics only make the game more frustrating. Seattle dominated there, out-gaining New Orleans 515-265. Russell Wilson out-passed Teddy Bridgewater 406 yards to 177.

Look at one tiny part of the stats though: Total drives. Seattle had 13 total drives and the Saints had 9. Wait…what? The Saints had fewer drives because Seattle gave New Orleans one touchdown on a fumble and another on a bad punt coupled with poor punt coverage. Extremely frustrating.

More on Chris Carson in a minute but he fumbled again in the first half that became a Saints touchdown. Not only is Carson coughing up the ball but he is doing so in the worst possible situations.

There wasn’t one unit for Seattle that was better than the Saints, no matter what the statistics tell you. Sunday was an ugly loss. The first home loss in September for the Seahawks in the Pete Carroll era.

Here are the grades from Sunday’s loss.
