Seahawks Wednesday injury report for week four versus Cardinals
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks had several players listed on Wednesday’s week four injury report. Most are not surprising but some new injuries have popped up.
The Seahawks listed their injuries for Wednesday ahead of their week four matchup versus the Cardinals. Some players, like Neiko Thorpe who will be out some time with a hamstring injury, were not surprising to see as not participating in practice. Others, though, like Ziggy Ansah‘s “back” issue, were not good news.
Players who didn’t participate on Wednesday
Duane Brown – bicep
Rashaad Penny – hamstring
Quinton Jefferson – hip
Neiko Thorpe – hamstring
Brown hurt his bicep in Sunday’s game against the Saints and missed 23 snaps. George Fant was OK in Brown’s absence, but Seattle’s line is simply not as good without Brown.
Penny and Thorpe dealt with hamstring problems before the Saints game and both missed it. Penny needs to come back sooner rather than later, especially as lead back Chris Carson is having fumbling issues. Check back on Friday and see if Penny is back practicing.
I’d never thought I’d write this but Jefferson may be Seattle’s best defensive lineman through three weeks. Hopefully, the Seahawks are just holding him out to rest him.
Players who were limited on Wednesday
Ethan Pocic – back
Poona Ford – calf
Ziggy Ansah – back
Tre Flowers – ankle
Travis Homer – quadriceps
Tyler Lockett – no reason given
D.K. Metcalf – no reason given
It is very likely that Seattle was simply holding Metcalf, Lockett and Flowers out for rest and recovery. Pocic is still trying to bounce back from being injured and he didn’t play in week three. Ford played against the Saints with the same calf injury he is dealing with now and is likely to play in week four. Ansah is the most worrisome. Maybe Seattle is holding him out to rest. Or maybe he was not productive against the Saints because he is hurt his back. Stay tuned.
Full participant in Wednesday’s practice
Tedric Thompson – hamstring
Thompson missed week three against New Orleans but I am not sure how much the Seahawks missed him. Seattle brought Adrian Colbert off the practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday, so that may be a sign Thompson, even if healthy, isn’t going to play any time soon.
