The Seahawks announced their inactives for week five versus the Rams. There is one position that might be thin against Los Angeles.

The Seahawks have some good news and some bad news for week five versus the Rams. I will get to the good news in just a minute, but for the bad news – and possibly game-changing – is that slot corner will be thin for Seattle.

The Rams are really good at using slot receivers. Cooper Kupp, for instance, lines up in the slot and could have a huge day on Thursday. The reason for this is Seattle will be without Akeem King. But the Rams won’t just line up Kupp in the slot, they will move their receivers around. This means if Seattle plays Ugo Amadi as slot corner Seattle would be really inexperienced. That is bad.

Seattle made a bunch of rookie, healthy players inactive. These include, no surprise as they have been healthy scratches all season, receivers Gary Jennings and John Ursua. At this point it looks like they made the 2019 roster simply to fill up the inactive list every week.

Rookie defensive end L.J. Collier is also inactive. He has been a healthy scratch before this year and likely week five won’t be his last. It is a shame that Seattle spent a first round pick on Collier and now seems to have little faith that he will contribute.

The other inactives are safeties Marquise Blair and Adrian Colbert along with guard Ethan Pocic.

Now for the good news! Rashaad Penny is going to play. The Seahawks second year running back was held out the last two weeks with a hamstring injury but he is good to go week five. That is good because Seattle will need him, especially if Chris Carson fumbles again. But let’s hope for the best.
