The Seattle defense has allowed 8th most passing yards this season. Should the Seahawks look to trade for Jets star S Jamal Adams?

The Seahawks defense has allowed 8th most passing yards and rank 9th most in total yards allowed this season. While safety Tedric Thompson has proven over the last two weeks he has big play ability, his coverage and tackling skills are severely lacking. Would the Seahawks benefit from an acquisition of the star safety Jamal Adams?

Who is Jamal Adams?

Adams came into the NFL in the 2017 NFL draft as the 6th player picked in the first round. He was widely considered the safest pick. He was known for his intensity, leadership ability, versatility and as a tone setter in physical play. He is an interchangeable safety who can play both the free and strong positions. However, he excels as the enforcer staying near the line of scrimmage shutting down run plays and blitzing. He is more so in the mold of Kam Chancellor as opposed to Earl Thomas.

Through his first two seasons in the NFL he has quickly become of the top safeties in the league. To date has amassed 227 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 2 interception. He has become the vocal leader for the defense and a household name along the process.

In the 2019 free agency, the Jets believed they were just a few pieces away from being a title contender. They spent big money on RB Le’Veon Bell, LB CJ Mosley, and WR Jamison Crowder. However, thus far into the 2019-2020 season the Jets are sitting at 1-4 with the GM stating they will be very active at the trade deadline. The majority of the roster was assembled by the previous GM and it sounds like the new GM is looking to clean house and create a new team, both in terms of playing field and on the locker room dynamic.
