Seahawks Trade Verdict:

Point: Seattle is very thin at the tight end position. By trading for Howard, we could shore up our depth at the tight end position for years to come with up to 3 years of control left on the players rookie scale contract.

Counterpoint: Howard may be a poor fit, more or less in the mold of Jimmy Graham. He is a big body that can be thrown to in the RedZone and on key downs however a liability when called upon to block.

Trade Meter: (1 being extremely unlikely, being nearly a done deal) I would give this a 7.

This trade makes sense in multitudes of levels as we are extremely depleted at the position. At the cost of a third-round pick and a rotational player it would be a no brainer to acquire a player regarded as one of the most gifted athletes in the league. The trade has very little in terms of risk with heaps of value in terms of potential reward.
