The Seahawks put out their final injury report for week 7. Several key Seattle players could miss the game versus the Ravens.

The Seahawks were able to beat the Browns in week six without left tackle Duane Brown and guard D.J. Fluker. Seattle might be able to defeat the Ravens without them too. Jamarco Jones has been good in place of Fluker. George Fant has been OK in place of Brown. But the issue with injuries in week comes on the defense.

Let me say first, though, that Seattle could once again be without Brown (biceps) and Fluker (hamstring). Fant is not as good as Brown and playing one game at left tackle doesn’t mean he is a long-term replacement. Jones could be a replacement for Fluker long-term, but Jones is also basically a rookie that other teams will figure out. Jones didn’t play in his real rookie year of 2018.

Where the Seahawks could lose the game on Sunday is the players they could be without in the secondary. Ironically, the biggest issue is safety. I say ironically because Seattle will be playing Earl Thomas for the first time in an opposing uniform. Thomas formed one of the best safety duos in NFL history when he played in Seattle until 2018.

Seattle will definitely be without Lano Hill (elbow). Most likely, and even worse, they will be without Bradley McDougald. McDougald has missed practice this week with back spasms. His replacement would be rookie Marquise Blair. Blair has promise but this would be his first start and it would come against an extremely mobile quarterback in Lamar Jackson who can make players look silly if they are not disciplined. Rookies normally lack a lot of discipline.

To make matters worse, Seattle could also be without Ziggy Ansah who is a game-time decision with an ankle injury. Also, possibly the best defensive lineman on the team this season, other than Jadeveon Clowney, Quinton Jefferson could miss the game with an oblique injury. Pass rush could suffer and then deep secondary could suffer. That is bad.

On the bright side, Jarran Reed returns to Seattle this week after serving a six week suspension. If he can supply a bit of an interior pass rush that would free up players like Clowney. Seattle needs to get heat on Jackson. Because if he is able to run easily and throw with freedom, with all of the Seahawks injuries there might be a lot of room deep downfield for him to make big plays.
