Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is arguably the MVP of the NFL through six weeks. Now, I could make the statement that every week Wilson is one of the three Seahawks that needs to be good to win and this would be true. But on Sunday versus the Ravens this is even more true.

Seattle likes to run the ball with Chris Carson. Baltimore likes to stop the run. The Ravens are fourth in the NFL defending the run (though oddly they have given up the second-most rushing touchdowns with 8, tied with Seattle). Seattle is up to 9th in the league in rushing.

It would be a mistake for Seattle offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to come into the game trying to force the run against the Ravens. It actually might be better to do the opposite of what Seattle likes to do, which would be use the pass to set up the run.

Wilson has thrown 14 touchdowns and no interceptions this year. He has also run, smartly many times, for three touchdowns. At some point, Wilson will throw a pick and maybe Earl Thomas will get one on Sunday. But Wilson is the best player on the field and if Seattle wins it will be because Wilson has had a great game with possibly a deep throw to Tyler Lockett for a touchdown.
