What a Seahawks trade for Falcons tight end Austin Hooper could look like

My Seahawks-Falcons proposed trade

Seahawks receive:

Austin Hooper

2020 4th round pick

Atlanta Receives:

Rashaad Penny

2020 2nd round pick

Why this trade makes sense for both parties

Seahawks: Dissly is out for the year, for the second year in a row. Ed Dickson is going to fight to come back week 8, but likely will be a few more weeks until we get his services back. Austin Hooper is developing into one of the most dynamic tight ends in the NFL and just keeps getting better. Hooper has only missed 2 of 55 possible games showing he is more than durable enough for the investment.

In order for this trade to make sense Seattle will need to negotiate a new contract with Hooper before anything is finalized. This new deal will likely put him in the top 3 in yearly salary for the position. My proposed deal would be just north of Trey Burtons four-year and $32 million deal and just south of Travis Kelce’s five-year and $46.8 million deal. The sweet spot for both parties would likely end around Kyle Rudolph’s extention at four-year and $36 million.

Penny appears to be bordering on being a first-round bust but still has trade value due to age and potential.
