How Seahawks future changed because of other teams trades

The Seahawks didn’t make any changes on Tuesday before the trade deadline but most teams didn’t. But future Seattle foes made moves before the deadline.

The Seahawks are 6-2 with, obviously, 8 games remaining. Three of the games are against the undefeated San Francisco 49ers (two games) and one game against the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams game is on the road. San Francisco is really good and Seattle matches up poorly against them. Both the Rams and 49ers made moves leading up to the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday.

Seattle also faces the Buccaneers, the Cardinals, the Vikings, the Eagles and the Panthers before the end of the year. Philadelphia and Arizona also made trades and those could affect the outcomes of their games with the Seahawks.

Let’s not forget, though, that Seattle acquired safety Quandre Diggs last week and he has the potential to greatly improve the back end of Seattle’s defense.

Moves made and how they affect the Seahawks

Since Seattle defeated the Rams in week 5, Los Angeles has acquired Jalen Ramsey and let go of Aqib Talib. Ramsey is one of the better cornerbacks in the league and Talib is aging. That said, the Rams also traded Marcus Peters who Russell Wilson had abused for much of the time Seattle and Los Angeles played each other. (Though that changed a bit when Seattle played the Ravens.) Ramsey might be better than Peters and Talib combined. Wilson will have a much tougher time throwing against Los Angeles now and if the Rams can focus squarely on Seattle’s run game, that is bad.

San Francisco didn’t do a whole lot but added receiver Emmanuel Sanders last week. He is aging but solid. The 49ers need help at wideout and Sanders might help just enough to make a difference.

The Cardinals added running back Kenyan Drake who isn’t great but is a good fit for what Arizona wants to do offensively. The Seahawks were much better than the Cardinals in week 4 when Seattle won 27-10. But since, the Cardinals have gotten Drake and have Patrick Peterson back from suspension.

Philadelphia traded for Genard Avery who hasn’t done a whole lot in his career but has potential. Avery has the ability to get a bunch of sacks. I just hope that doesn’t start when the Eagles play the Seahawks in week 12.

Next. Is Russell Wilson the best quarterback in the NFC right now?. dark

The NFC is tough. As opposed to the AFC where some otherwise-mediocre teams will make the playoffs, the NFC is full of sharks. 10 wins may not be good enough to make the postseason. Seattle has 6 wins with 8 games to play. Seattle needs to win five of those probably. The way future opponents have made moves, getting to 5 more wins might be tough.
