Seahawks have probably seen the end of Tedric Thompson with his injury

The Seahawks placed Tedric Thompson on Injured Reserve on Wednesday. With the emergence of Marquise Blair, Thompson career is probably over in Seattle.
The Seahawks announced on Wednesday that they have placed safety Tedric Thompson on Injured Reserve. Thompson will be out for the rest of the season, one can assume. A player has to be out at least 8 weeks before he is eligible to return. Seattle has 9 weeks left in the season but seem unlikely to bring Thompson back.
And let’s be honest, Seattle has been trying to replace Thompson for some time. They played him because Earl Thomas got hurt in week four last season. And then started him six games of 2019 because Marquise Blair wasn’t yet ready or Bradley McDougald was hurt or after trading for Quandre Diggs, Diggs has been hurt.
McDougald and Diggs are proven players better than Thompson. Blair has started two games and seems to already have shown how much better he is than Thompson will ever be. It was Thompson’s time to go.
Will he play again in Seattle? Probably not. McDougald is under contract through at least next year, Blair is emerging as a long-term starter, Diggs has a contract that runs for a couple more seasons (though none of it is guaranteed after this year so he could be cut) and Lano Hill still exists.
Thompson did have two interceptions this season, one of which was a great catch. But he also gets beat deep and doesn’t have the speed Pete Carroll likes in his safeties. When a pass gets completed over your head in the Seahawks defense, that is the worst thing you can allow. Thompson always seems just on the verge of having that happen.
Most likely, Seattle placing Thompson on IR is their nice way of saying, “Tedric, it has been nice, but it will be nicer when you’re gone.” Thompson will find a job in the NFL, it probably just won’t be in Seattle anymore.
