The Seahawks should move to 7-2 with a win of the Buccaneers in week 9. In fact, if Seattle relies on Russell Wilson, I guarantee a Seattle victory.

The Seahawks are flying high at 6-2 which might make it easy to overlook a team in Tampa Bay who only has two wins. Seattle would be foolish to do that. The Buccaneers have the 5th best scoring offense in the league featuring big play threats by the likes of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

On the other side of the ball, they also have the best defense against the run in the league. Coach Pete Carroll has been adamant in the past that they’re not going to change their philosophy for an opponent in hopes that the opponent conforms to them. If they take that mentality into Sunday they could be in trouble.

In the past, the fact that this game is at home could be what moves the needle but so far that hasn’t been the case as the Seahawks have only managed to be 2-2 at Centurylink this season. Tampa Bay does have an extraordinarily weak pass defense but whether Carroll will look to exploit it extensively remains to be seen.

Seattle would be wise to use Russell Wilson a lot on Sunday. The Seahawks can throw well when they choose to use Wilson. Tampa Bay is good against the run so this might not be the week to force feed Chris Carson to a defensive line. Doing so would be a mistake against the Buccaneers, it would seem. Tampa Bay gives up the fewest rushing yards per game in the NFL in 2019.

Despite the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, being good in areas that make this a tough matchup for the Seahawks, such as run defense and passing offense, the Buccaneers are ultimately a two win team for a reason and at the conclusion of this game they will remain so.
