Three reasons the Seahawks will beat 49ers on Monday Night Football
By Lee Vowell
Unleash the freak that is Chris Carson
Guess what the 49ers defense is going to trying to do against Seahawks running back Chris Carson? Get him to fumble. Carson has fumbled 713 times this year (don’t look that up right now, I might be underestimating the amount). It is both right and good that the 49ers try to get Carson to cough up the ball. But it is also right and good that Carson is going to try to run over every single member of the 49ers defense. Both could happen.
Carson ranks fifth in the UFL (read previous slide for reference point) with 764 yards rushing. He isn’t overly fast, though, so a lot of those yards are him running your friend’s favorite team’s best defender over onto his buttocks. Carson looks for contact so he won’t fear the 49ers defensive line.
While Carson isn’t super fast, but still is tied for the league lead in 20 yard-plus runs with 6. He is quick and he is explosive. If he can gain 5 or 6 or 18 yards a run against the 49ers he will help out Russell Wilson quite a bit and Wilson will shake Carson’s hand after the game and say, “Thank you, dear friend, for helping us win this contest against our southern foes.”
Seattle will defeat the 49ers on Monday night because Wilson is better than the 49ers quarterback and because Chris Carson is there to support Wilson and unleash pain on defenders. Just the way Pete Carroll likes it (though maybe with a bit more defense).
