Seahawks have no pass rush

The 49ers like to run the ball a bunch. San Francisco currently leads the NFL in run percentage rushing the ball on 55.9 percent of their plays. The Seahawks run the ball 46.4 percent of the time by comparison. San Francisco running so well means their quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo doesn’t have to win games on his own.

But make no mistake that Garoppolo is capable of beating opponents when needed. In week 9, the 49ers won a close game over the Arizona Cardinals 28-25. A huge reason for the victory was Garoppolo went 28 of 37 for 317 yards and four touchdowns. He was sacked just once. In fact, San Francisco has allowed the third fewest sacks in the NFL with 12.

The Seahawks, as 12s all know, are not good at getting to the quarterback. Seattle has 15 sacks this season, good for 26th in the league. Of those 15 sacks, 5 have come from linebackers. This means the defensive line itself is doing next to nothing.

Seattle will not beat the 49ers if they cannot get some semblance of pressure against Garoppolo. Even if Seattle finds a way to stop the 49ers running attack, which be tough enough in itself, if the Seahawks fail to sack Garoppolo three times, Seattle will lose and it won’t be that close.
