The 49ers can bring the heat

Opposed to the Seahawks, the 49ers will hit an opposing quarterback multiple times during a game. Defensive linemen Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead and DeForest Buckner have 16.5 combined sacks alone, or 1.5 more than Seattle has as a team. The trio has 28 quarterback hits combined. San Francisco has a scary front.

Overall the 49ers are third in the league with 30 sacks. The 49ers are second in the NFL in quarterback rating-allowed at 65.7. They have allowed just 7 touchdown passes and picked off 10. This means that Russell Wilson is going to challenged by the best pass defense he has seen in some time.

To be blunt, Seattle does not win if Wilson has a not-great game. The Seahawks are 7-2 for one real reason: Wilson is playing out of his mind. He has a 22 touchdowns thrown to 1 interception thrown ratio. That isn’t human.

And Wilson will need to be superhuman again on Monday against a team that doesn’t allow that. San Francisco isn’t as good against the run and my fear is that Seattle offensive coordinator will rely on Chris Carson too much and forget that he has to use Wilson to win games. Schottenheimer has called good games so far in 2019, but I could also see this as a repeat of the Seahawks loss to the Cowboys in the playoffs last year. That would mean too much Seattle run and not enough Wilson.
