Seahawks win with Panthers and Rams losses in week 10
By Lee Vowell
The Seahawks may or may not win against the 49ers on Monday. But they got a bit of a break from other teams losing on Sunday.
The Seahawks are 7-2 and firmly in the running for the playoffs in the NFC in 2019. A win on Monday and there is a chance they could even with their division. But the playoffs are the goal ultimately and once there anything can happen.
Seattle is currently the only team in second place in its division in the NFC with 2 losses. The Vikings defeated the Cowboys on Sunday and are 7-3. Minnesota trails the Packers in the NFC North by one game through week 10. Of course, the Seahawks and Vikings play each other in week 13. Seattle gets to host the game so hopefully that is a good thing. (Though Seattle is so far unbeaten on the road and has 2 losses at home.)
In the NFC East, both the Cowboys and Eagles lead the division but each already has four losses. The great thing for Seattle was that both the Panthers (5-4 and in second place in the NFC South) and Rams (also 5-4 and in 3rd place in the NFC West) lost on Sunday. This means even if the Seahawks were to lose to the 49ers on Monday, they would still be in decent shape for the playoffs.
Thinking positively, however, if Seattle was to win in week 10, they not only would move one game closer to the division lead, they would lead every other team in the NFC who does not currently have a division lead by two games. Plus, Seattle could make it easier on themselves with head-to-head wins in future games against the Vikings and Panthers.
The Seahawks also get to play the Eagles and the Rams. Russell Wilson and Seattle’s playoff destiny is in their own hands. Now, they just need to take control of it. And this begins Monday against the 49ers.
