Seahawks injuries are not awful week 17 versus 49ers

The Seahawks have been a banged-up group for the last few weeks, but as the playoffs loom they seem to be getting healthier.

Hooray! The Seahawks injury list is fairly short heading into week 17 versus the 49ers. But there is a reason why. Chris Carson, C.J. Prosise and Rashaad Penny are all gone. In their stead is the greatness that is Marshawn Lynch, a few years removed from Seattle glory days and a few days removed from giving 12s the huge rush of hope for what is left of this season.

BeastMode is back, even if Carson, Penny and that other guy that gets hurt all the time is not. Also injured is left tackle Duane Brown who will miss week 17 with a knee/biceps/etc issue. Malik Turner who catches important passes and drops other important passes is out with a concussion. I wish him well as a human being and a future Seahawk, but he won’t make or break what happens against the 49ers in week 17.

Questionable after Friday’s practice for the Seahawks is safety Quandre Diggs and guard Ethan Pocic (has he even been back long enough to be injured again?). Pocic can sit out and not be missed, to be fair. But Diggs has made a bad Seahawks defense at least mediocre and he has been missed the last few weeks. As I wrote earlier, though, Diggs, like a lot of other Seattle starters, should skip week 17.

On the flip side, the 49ers have everybody relatively healthy. When Seattle defeated the 49ers a few weeks ago San Francisco was without tight end George Kittle, but now he is back. That stinks because he is really good.

The Seahawks are in the playoffs no matter what happens on Sunday. 12s and I do not want Seattle to get embarrassed and lose their third game out of the last four, but this is all about the postseason now. Should Seattle lose, it isn’t the end of the season. But should should they win, there is renewed hope for the postseason.

At least Seattle won’t have a lot of reasons to lose because other than Brown, and possibly Diggs, they have all their good players available. And if Seattle does beat the 49ers, then the NFC should fear what Seattle has left in this season.
