The Seahawks and 49ers play for the NFC West crown in week 17. For Seattle to win, these three players must be absolutely great.

The Seahawks do not have a do or die situation in week 17 against the 49ers. That is unless do or die has to do with winning the NFC West. A division crown would be great, which is what they would get if the defeat San Francisco on Sunday. But the greater goal is to get to the Super Bowl and Seattle has already clinched a playoff spot.

No matter what happens on Sunday, Seattle will likely play a game next weekend. If the Packers lose and the Saints lose (both unlikely as Green Bay plays the 3-11-1 Lions and the Saints play the 5-10 Panthers) and Seattle wins then the Seahawks could, and I swear I am not making this up, be the number-one seed in the NFC. But let’s be real. Green Bay and New Orleans will both win and the best Seattle could do would be the number-three seed.

Seattle could be the number-two seed if the Packers win and the Saints win or lose. If the Packers lose and the Saints win and Seattle wins, Seattle would be the number-two seed. There is a lot of math involved in Sunday’s game. But for Seattle to be anything but a number-five seed, they must defeat the 49ers.

For the Seahawks to defeat the 49ers, they need to play great, not just good. And these three players need to be complete beasts for Seattle to get the victory.
