The Seahawks play the Eagles in Philadelphia in the Wild Card round on Sunday. Anything can happen but I hope my dream isn’t what does.

We have all heard of people having visions. And don’t think me crazy because I am not saying I am a soothsayer because if I was I would be making a lot of money doing something in that realm. But on Saturday night I had a dream that the Seahawks lost to the Eagles in the Wild card game. Maybe it was a nightmare and not a dream.

First of all, early in the game and with Seattle already down 14-3, Russell Wilson was running down the middle of the field for a first down and went to cut to make a move and turned his ankle. He couldn’t play again. Geno Smith came into the game. On his first play, he was asked to throw a deep seam to an open Tyler Lockett and Smith overthrew Lockett by 10 yards. Smith got no better as the game went on.

Wilson going down with an injury is the worst thing that could happen to the Seahawks. Seattle has been fortunate that Wilson has never missed a game or even a practice due to injury. Seattle could go on to win one game possibly without Wilson, but a deep run in the playoffs? No way.

Of course, my brain also interspersed the Seahawks and Eagles game with highlights of another playoff game, the Cowboys and Vikings. I detest the Cowboys so maybe I had some bad food last night causing me to have a nightmare of Seattle losing and Dallas winning. Thankfully, in reality, Dallas did not make the playoffs. Even better, the Patriots lost on Saturday too.

Next. Three Seahawks that need to be great versus Eagles. dark

The truth is, Seattle can, and maybe should defeat the Eagles on Sunday. Even healthy, Seattle might be better than the Eagles. Both teams are banged up right now, but Seattle gets back Quandre Diggs so the secondary should be better. Against an Eagles offense without a true deep threat, the Seahawks should contain Philadelphia’s offense. I am hoping reality is better than my nightmare of Saturday night.
