The Seahawks take on the Eagles on Sunday in the Wild card round. Here is what to watch for and how to see it all unfold.

Well, this is it. The playoffs are here. The Seahawks know how to win once they arrive at this point in the season, but they also haven’t won a playoff game in three years. On the other side, as good as the Eagles have been over the last couple of seasons, they have been so in the postseason without a then-injured Carson Wentz. Wentz is making his first playoff start. Weird.

It is also a bit odd that the Seahawks running attack will be led by Marshawn Lynch. Lynch hasn’t been involved in a playoff game since he left Seattle the first time in 2015. But Lynch being the lead back in Seattle might be good for a couple of reasons. One, Lynch knows how to generate yards in the playoffs. Second, and maybe more importantly, Lynch isn’t Chris Carson.

Last postseason, Seattle was far too conservative early in the Wild Card game against the Cowboys as Brian Schottenheimer tried to force Carson on the Cowboys. Dallas was ready for it and Seattle lost a close game due to early ineptitude.

Hopefully, Schottenheimer will not try to rely on the same kind of obviousness with Lynch and Travis Homer that Schottenheimer thought he could with Carson last year. This means Seattle will be more versatile and less predictable because the Seahawks get beat when they are predictable. If Schottenheimer calls a good game, Seattle will win.
