Seattle Seahawks: 2019 season awards
By Lee Vowell
MVP
Speaking of players that the Seahawks cannot be without, just imagine how many wins the 2019 team would have gotten without Russell Wilson. 4 maybe? Maybe less. Wilson was once again Seattle’s MVP and could be that for the next four or five seasons. Or longer. Wilson was mostly great and may have had his best season.
Look, I would love, just for giggles, to have someone else remotely in the same league as far as importance and value to Seattle that Wilson is. But there isn’t. He is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, he is the best quarterback the Seahawks have ever had and even if he is the highest-paid player in the NFL, he might be worth that.
Wilson has played 8 years. He has made the Pro Bowl 6 times. With Wilson as the quarterback, Seattle has missed the playoffs just once. This year, Wilson threw just 5 interceptions, the fewest of his career. While he didn’t set career highs in many categories, he was consistent throughout. His 4,110 passing yards were the second-most of his career, his QBR was third-highest, his 66.1 percent completion percentage was second-highest, the 341 completions he had were the second-highest.
Wilson was great again. He is on track for a Hall of Fame career. The Seahawks should consider themselves fortunate that he is their quarterback and will be for the foreseeable future. Seattle is in good hands on offense, now if only the defense can better.
