Three biggest reasons for worry for Seahawks in 2020

The Seahawks have been a pretty good team for nearly a decade. But in 2020, there are a lot of reasons for concern in Seattle.

12s have been on a good ride since Pete Carroll became the coach of the Seahawks in 2010. In Carroll’s 10 seasons in Seattle, his teams have gone 100-59-1, won another 10 playoff games, been to the Super Bowl twice and won a championship in 2013. Things could be worse. Seattle has the fourth-most wins in the NFL over the last decade.

This being the NFL, though, things can change suddenly. The Falcons, for instance, were in the Super Bowl a few years ago, should have won it, and then had a losing record in 2019. San Francisco went 4-12 in 2018 and made it to the Super Bowl this past season. No team, even the Patriots, can take wins for granted.

The Seahawks should be good again in 2020, but they also face a tough schedule with a lot of the more difficult games coming in their own division. Seattle faces some tough free agent decisions this offseason and need to fix issues where they were thin in 2019 and those units could be even worse in 2020. The Seahawks, like every team, walk a thin line between being in the playoffs and being at the bottom of their division.

In 2020, Seattle will face four teams that won 10 games or more (they actually will play five games against those teams as they play San Francisco twice). The will play five teams that went to the playoffs in 2019 (Patriots, Bills, Eagles, 49ers and Vikings). Three of those games will be on the road and two of them will be east coast time.

There are a lot of reasons to worry about 2020 for the Seahawks. Here are three of them. (And do not worry; I will have a piece on reasons for hope too.)
