Seattle Seahawks Mock Draft Monday 2.0
Round 3: Seahawks select Hunter Bryant, TE Washington
An absolute steal of a selection. Bryant is listed as a TE but is more of what we call a “move” TE. That is that he is not an inline TE like Will Dissly. Bryant is a receiving threat who works well out of the slot or backfield. He is faster than linebackers and runs a deep route tree. He is big enough to body up on safeties and understands how to use his frame to his advantage.
Bryant isn’t a great run blocker. It’s just not a skill he brings thanks to his smaller 240 lbs frame, despite a genuine willingness to block. Bryant can clean up in the slot and has the receiving skills to catch 75 passes for 1000 yards on a multi-year basis.
If the Seahawks do select him, it would be a departure from their usual choice at TE, but with Will Dissly there to do the dirty work, it can free up Bryant to contribute right away.
I would love this pick for the Seahawks. Bryant offers versatility, high football IQ, a good route tree, solid hands, a quickness to be an absolute weapon if properly used. Hopefully, OC Brian Schottenheimer can find creative ways to get the football in his hands.
