Seattle may have signed Greg Olsen to a hefty contract and is expecting Will Dissly to be ready for Week 1, but they still need more insurance at the tight end position. Russell Wilson loves to target the position and while Jacob Hollister performed admirably as the TE1, there are limits he can’t overcome.

Charles Taumoepeau is a small school tight end who may have helped his stock last week. The 6’2″, 240 lbs Taumoepeau ran a 4.75 40-yard dash with 18 reps on the bench, as well as a 36.5 inch vertical and a 121-inch broad jump. He also ran the second-best 3-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle, showing explosive tendencies and good agility for a 240 lbs man.

Taumoepeau is an aggressive blocker who gets after it on the edge. He has strong hands and doesn’t allow the football to get in on his body. He runs hard with the football in his hands and can shrug off shoulder tackles in the open field.

Now, he isn’t going to run by many people and isn’t somebody you want to split out wide to try and win a jump ball with. He is an okay route runner but will need refinement in the pros. Even if Dissly, Olsen, and Hollister are all healthy, Taumoepeau is versatile enough that he may be able to play fullback, in a role similar to 49ers weapon Kyle Juszczyk.

Taumoepeau will have to impress to make the Opening Week 53-man roster, but so would every other 6th round pick. Taumoepeau is a good athlete with some versatility, strong hands, and a desire to help in the run game. If that’s what I get from a 6th round pick, I’ll sign up for that.

Well, there you have it. Mock Draft 4.0 in the books. In this addition, Seattle addressed their pass-rush, running game, offensive line, cornerback, and tight-end, knocking off a lot of items on the off-season shopping list. Now that the combine is behind us and free agency is just two weeks away, we should have more clarity on the needs of the Seahawks, making our decisions a little easier.

Next. 3 Seahawks that need to take the next step in 2020. dark

But until we start seeing names signed to the roster, we have to make our best guesses, which allows us to look at a lot of different players.
