Seahawks 2020 offseason plan: Taking control of the roster
The Seahawks 2020 draft
At the end of our project, Seattle has $7,482,346 left in cap space for rookie deals. Hopefully, the Seahawks do a better job at structuring contracts to leave more room for a few more veteran additions as well as rookie signings.
The Seahawks currently have only five picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, not including any potential compensatory picks they may be awarded.
Their biggest areas of need that the Seahawks need to address in the draft are defensive end, offensive tackle, and offensive guard. Most mock drafts have Seattle taking an edge rusher with their first pick (27 overall) considering at that point, the value for an offensive lineman isn’t great.
Here, in phase 4, we will explore some draft options for Seattle by creating a few mock drafts using The Draft Network’s mock draft simulator.
Mock Draft #1
Round1 Pick 27: Jonathan Taylor, RB – Wisconsin
Round 2 Pick 59: Jaylon Johnson, CB – Utah
Round 2 Pick 64: Joshua Uche, EDGE – Michigan
Round 4 Pick 123: Chase Claypool, WR – Notre Dame
Round 5 Pick 136: Solomon Kindley, IOL – Georgia
Mock Draft #2
Round1 Pick 27: Grant Delpit, S – LSU
Round 2 Pick 59: Lucas Niang, OT – TCU
Round 2 Pick 64: Brandon Aiyuk, WR – Arizona State
Round 4 Pick 123: Anthony McFarland, RB – Maryland
Round 5 Pick 136: Alton Robinson, EDGE – Syracuse
Mock Draft #3
Round1 Pick 27: A.J. Epenesa, EDGE – Iowa
Round 2 Pick 59: Matt Hennessy, IOL – Temple
Round 2 Pick 64: Cameron Dantzler, CB – Mississippi State
Round 4 Pick 123: Chase Claypool, WR – Notre Dame
Round 5 Pick 136: A.J. Dillon, RB – Boston College
Before the 2019 NFL Draft, Seattle had only four picks and then they sprinkled a little magic and turned it into 11 picks in the end. Hopefully, they can do the same thing this year without giving away too much. Even so, I expect them to put a focus on all positions in the draft this year.
