Round 3: Seahawks select Jabari Zuniga, EDGE Florida

Jabari Zuniga is a freaky athlete. At 6’3, 265 lbs with 33-inch arms and nearly 11-inch hands, Zuniga blew away the combine and may have played his way into the second round.

His 4.64 forty, 29 bench reps, 33-inch vert, and 127-inch broad jump, show a fast, strong, explosive load of a man who is an ideal fit for the Seahawks traditional “Leo” position.

Zuniga lost half of his final season at Florida due to a high ankle sprain, but John Schneider loves to target players whose best season was the year before their draft year. It’s a great way to get value and Zuniga is no exception.

Zuniga never posted eye-popping sack totals for the Gators, which could lead some teams to worry that his Lower body strength issues are going to limit him. But Zuniga has all the tools you want and as one of the last picks on Day 2, he would be an absolute steal.

The Seahawks have to address their pass-rush, but in what is a thin draft at the edge rusher, they should do a bulk of their heavy lifting in this area in the draft. But adding Zuniga to work on passing downs while developing other areas of his game would be a solid game plan for the Seahawks and give Pete Carroll some much-needed speed to his defense.
