Seahawks mock draft 6.0: Post-Quinton Dunbar trade
By Lee Vowell
Round five, unknown – L’Jarius Sneed, safety, Louisiana Tech
The Seahawks have a history of hitting on secondary members in the fifth round. Players like Kam Chancellor and Richard Sherman were pretty good. I still have the Seahawks making a fifth-round pick in this draft even though they traded the one they had previously to the Redskins for Quinton Dunbar.
We all know John Schneider is going to find a way to get more picks than Seattle’s current number of 7. If one of those picks is spent on Sneed, that would be a good thing. Sneed ran a 4.37 40 at the combine, plus a 41″ vertical and a 131″ broad jump. He has good traits for a Seattle free safety, including a 31 and 3/8″ arm span. Sounds like a potential free safety of the future in Seattle.
Round six, pick 35 (214th overall) – Raequan Williams, defensive tackle, Michigan State
While the Seahawks had a terrible time with another Michigan State player, Malik McDowell, Raequan Williams appears to be a standup person who nearly quit football after his younger brother and cousin were killed in shootings. Williams has had to overcome some off the field issues he did not create and is stronger for it.
On the field, the 6’4″ and 308 pound Williams is difficult to move out of position. He isn’t quick, but he did run a 5.04 40 at the combine which is pretty fast for a guy his size. He is another bull rusher but he did get 5 sacks in 2019 so there is the potential for some inside push as well.
