Denver is in the middle of a rebuild, and the Seahawks have a clear need at the defensive end. Could a deal be struck to bring the long-time Bronco to the Pacific Northwest?

The Seahawks are now 3 weeks into free agency and their defensive line has established a decent set of rotational pass rushers. It’s time for Seattle to fill it’s starting unit. The Seahawks should call Denver to check on the availability of their star edge rusher.

Coming out of college Von Miller looked like a man amongst boys. He checked every box a team looks for at the edge. He possessed the prototypical size, sky-high football IQ, functional athleticism and explosiveness. His final year in college he actually won the Butkus award for the nation’s top linebacker while on his way to becoming the number 2 overall selection in the 2011 draft.

Fast forward to today, and Miller is entering his 10th season in the NFL. He has been the lone staple of the Denver Broncos roster through the 2010s. During his career, he has averaged 11.75 sacks, 15 tackles for a loss and a pressure rate of 14.1% per season. Last season, would be considered a disappointment in Miller’s book with 8 sacks, 10 tackles for a loss and a pressure rate of 15.2%. However, all these stats would have been team highs on the Seahawks roster last year.

If this is considered his floor, let me remind you of his ceiling. In 2012, he amassed 18.5 sacks, 28 tackles for a loss and 6 forced fumbles. More recently, the average of his past 3 seasons, he has 11 sacks, 14 tackles for a loss and 3 fumbles per year.
