Round one, pick 27 – Zack Baun, linebacker, Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin has a way of producing very good pass rushers for the NFL level, like the Watt brothers. In 2019, Zack Baun while at Wisconsin had 12.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles-for-loss. He has a nose for the football. He also picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown.

Baun is extremely quick with a fantastic motor. The guy never takes a play off. He won’t be the biggest linebacker in the NFL as he only weighs 235 pounds, but at 6’3″ he could gain some muscle and mass and still be quick. Baun also has a really high football IQ so whatever he first lacks in size, he should be able to overcome in intelligence in figuring out what an offensive line is trying to do with him.

There are a couple of drawbacks for him as a member of the Seahawks, though. First, I am not sure current Seattle defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. is creative enough to use Baun in the right way. Seattle already has two good linebackers and Baun isn’t big enough to be an every-down defensive end.

But if used the right way, Baun will create havoc on opposing offenses and he should do that as a member of the Seahawks.
