The Seahawks have a huge need at defensive end. The Bengals are in a rebuild. Could Seattle work a deal with the Bengals for Carlos Dunlap?

Every day that goes by the Seahawks and Jadeveon Clowney feel farther and farther apart. Sure, the longer Clowney is on the market the more likely his price will continue to drop. However, if his price falls too much he is more likely to sign a 1 year prove-it deal rather than a long-term contract.

This would be a very hard pill to swallow in terms of cap hit and stability on the defensive line. The Seahawks also risk Clowney becoming offended at their low ball offer and deciding he no longer wants to sign with the organization. This would be a problem.

This brings me to the meat and bones of the article. The Seahawks should inquire about Carlos Dunlap in case Clowney does decide he wants to play elsewhere. The Bengals are thoroughly engulfed in a rebuild and appear to be locked into drafting a quarterback at number 1 overall.

Meanwhile, Dunlap has a very similar skillset to Clowney and is under contract for 2 more seasons. A trade would give Seattle some stability and allow the Bengals to continue to build on the offensive side of the ball. This could be a win-win for both organizations.
