We are just a week and half away from the 2020 NFL Draft. Here is what the Seahawks should do to make next season and beyond better.

The Seahawks have had an odd off-season to date, and it required me to be creative in this mock. Therefore, numerous trades will need to be had to ensure all needs are satisfied proficiently.

Let’s dive into where we are now. The Seahawks spent a lot of their free agency cap space on offensive linemen. This was an odd move, as this draft is looking to be incredibly deep at this position grouping. Granted, the majority of the signings are stop-gap players on 1-2 year deals. Seattle will still need to find a couple of high upside players to groom in the draft.

The largest hole Seattle had going into free agency was on the defensive line, specifically rushing the passer. So far, they have only managed to sign Benson Mayowa, Bruce Irvin and re-sign Jarran Reed. The draft for 4-3 defensive ends is especially thin this year. It requires a different approach when looking at talent, high upside will be the biggest priority. There are not many players at the position with the ability to start right away.

Seattle has brought back Malik Turner, David Moore and added Philip Dorsett at wide receiver. All 3 players are on 1-year deals. Seattle will likely be semi-aggressive in finding a WR3 to complement Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. Utilizing the draft allows the team to bring in a high upside player on a  team-friendly multi-year deal.

Finally, Seattle is going to target a running back in the draft, that much is clear. With both Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny ending last season on the IR, there needs to be some insurance. In this draft there are five truly elite running backs in the class in D’Andre Swift, Jonathan Taylor, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, JK Dobbins and Cam Akers. After that the talent takes a decent drop off. However, I believe I have found a player who is a perfect fit for the scheme and is a mid-round sleeper in this draft.
