Greatest Seahawks needs

The Seahawks have done well thus far adding depth and competition. However, where they have added warm bodies, they have failed to add any high upside players on a cost-effective, long term deal. This brings me to the draft, we have a clear sense of what Seattle needs.

I believe Seattle’s greatest needs in post-free agency moves are:

  • DE
  • DT
  • OT
  • RB
  • IOL
  • WR
  • CB (slot)

Seattle’s current draft picks are 27th, 59th, 64th, 101st, 133rd, 144th and 214th. In order for me to fill the Seahawks roster, I had to complete a handful of trades to ensure I could target the best players/scheme fits possible.

Below is my list of completed trades

  • Seahawks trade their 27th pick to the Giants for the 36th, 99th, 150 and 183rd picks
  • Seahawks trade their 36th pick to the Dolphins for the 39th, 227th and a 2021 5th round picks
  • Seahawks trade their 64th and 99th picks to the Broncos for the 77th and 83rd picks
  • Seahawks trade their 133rd, 150th and 183rd picks to the Colts for the 122nd, and 160th picks
  • Seahawks trade their 214th and 227th picks to the Packers for the 192nd pick.

After the trades, Seattle ends with 9 draft picks, including 7 picks between rounds 2-4. I suspect teams will not keep many of their late-round picks this year with the pro-days and more importantly, the medicals not being available. Undrafted priority free agency will likely be a very important time for the Seahawks this year, while late-round picks will not.

Seahawks picks in this mock draft, post trades:

  • 1st round: N/A
  • 2nd round: 39th, and 59th
  • 3rd round: 77th, 83rd and 101st
  • 4th round: 122nd, and 144th
  • 5th round: 160th
  • 6th round: 192nd
  • 7th round: N/A

For this mock draft, I used Pro Football Network’s mock draft simulator. If you haven’t already, I highly suggest checking it out. It’s completely free, and it allows you to trade picks. The trades are calculated using the standard value chart which assigns every pick a value. The website also regularly updates its draft board. I am very happy with how this turned out and I believe it is fairly realistic.

After reading this mock draft, please leave a comment and let me know what you liked, what you didn’t and what you would do differently. Without further ado.
