2. TE Colby Parkinson

I won’t lie. I was pumped when the Seahawks spent a fourth-round pick on Stanford tight end Colby Parkinson. If you’re not familiar with the incoming rookie, it’s best to get to know his name because he has the potential to become a mainstay in Seattle.

There’s just so much to like about this kid. He boasts a big, athletic frame at 6’7″, 250 pounds, and does a great job of tracking and catching the ball even with coverage draped all over him. Plus, he comes from a pro-style Stanford offense that has prepared him to block, run strong routes and be an all-around effective option for the Seahawks offense.

Don’t just take my word for it — see for yourself:

Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee Parkinson will even see the field as a rookie. He’s got plenty of competition for snaps at tight end, primarily from Greg Olsen, Will Dissly and Luke Willson. While that may be the case, training camp will be the perfect opportunity for the youngster to make plays when he’s called upon. That’s partly what training camp is for, isn’t it?

Is Parkinson a star in the making? Maybe not. But will he stand out from the crowd when training camp begins? Absolutely. The physical tools and football IQ are already there — now he just needs an opportunity to put them on display.
