DE Michael Bennett

Honestly, I’m not sure how the 12s would feel about this one. Michael Bennett was a wrecking ball during his days in Seattle, but the relationship ended on an ugly note when the Seahawks shipped him off to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Since then, Bennett’s career has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. While he’s still an effective asset on the field, he always seems to be butting heads with management. Bennett lasted only one season with the Eagles, spent some time with the New England Patriots, and then got traded to the Dallas Cowboys. It’s clear his ego isn’t doing him any favors at this point.

As I mentioned, though, the talent is still there. Since departing the Emerald City, Bennett has racked up 15.5 sacks in two seasons. Even at the ripe age of 34, that’s impressive production. It also helps that Bennett appears interested in a reunion with the club that he spent five years and won a Super Bowl with.

Plus, it’s not like the Seahawks are aces at defensive end. At this moment, the depth chart should look something like this: Irvin, Benson Mayowa, L.J. Collier, Darrell Taylor, Rasheem Green. It could be worse, but there’s no star of the show and it doesn’t appear Clowney will be coming back. Put simply, an injection of veteran talent wouldn’t be a bad idea.

The Seahawks already brought Irvin back this season, so why not keep the train rolling by re-signing Bennett. He clearly still has some gas in the tank, and it seems perfect for him to end his career in Seattle.
